Job description:
Global Manufacturer in the automotive and engine industry looking for a Commodity Buyer.

In charge of achieving cost targets regarding productive materials from domestic and international supply base. The Commodity Buyer works in an international team environment consisting of Purchasing management, global and regional buyers, SQM / SQE, Logistics, Engineering and Sales.

The Commodity Buyer will be responsible to coordinate and manage the purchasing requirements for the assigned Productive Material on a regional basis.
Commodity Buyer will coordinate with other regional buyers and Global Lead Buyers for assigned materials or components.

Understand and effectively communicate business trends and cost drivers that include technological and business footprints of the component and raw material suppliers.
Buyer would be responsible for quotations and a total cost of ownership analysis for assigned commodities. Maintain system database for quotations and analysis approval process.

Perform market analysis to establish key trends within the Supply Base, Market and Technology following standardized company procedures and processes.

Define commodity strategies to achieve corporate, purchasing & Business Unit goals and objectives.
Utilize commodity expertise and Commodity strategies to create and maintain Business Plan.
Support balanced scorecard and material cost savings objectives
Coordinate activities to support supplier performance objectives and supplier risk mitigation
Develop and implement cost reduction strategies in conjunction with the global commodity team. Able to lead supplier negotiations and costing workshops.

Manage/drive commodity review of projects for all relevant commodity activities.

Buyer should be able to develop commercial and supply agreements to support organizational goals and objectives.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Preferred candidate would have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Materials Management Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Purchasing of productive components or materials. A preference towards automotive / heavy duty truck application manufacturing or related industries

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated background and proven experience with high level supplier negotiations
Strong understanding of the key success factors of efficient global supply chain management.
Ability to work in a team environment across all corporate functions: Engineering, Purchasing, Operations. Quality and Logistics.
Solid analytical skills, with excellent follow-up and attention to detail
Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work across a variety of cultures and mindsets

Advanced Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
SAP R3 experience with preference in purchasing modules
Willingness and ability to travel
Self-motivated, able to manage many projects simultaneously.
Possess knowledge of supply market trends and characteristics (e.g., associations, conferences, etc)
Ability to facilitate commodity strategy meetings with cross-functional product teams
Able to lead and coordinate VA/VE activities with supply base
Create negotiation strategy and direction for commodity negotiation and sourcing approval with appropriate team members
Manage supplier cost recovery, as necessary
Create, maintain & enforce all commodity supplier contracts and orders using SAP
Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
Bottom Line Requirements:
