This tour is your opportunity to join a real Icelandic tradition. After the lambs are born in spring, farmers send the sheep into the mountains, where they spend the summer grazing freely around the highlands. Every September, the farmers and horsemen group together all over country with their mountain king or queen to herd the sheep down from the the highlands down to a specific holding place called “Réttir” in Icelandic. After the sheep are sorted they’re taken to their home farms for the winter.
