My client ; the biggest retail store in the Middle East is looking for Category Development Specialist – Electrical & Plumbing
Specific knowledge needed in Electrical and Plumbing, namely product selection and vendor relationships

Based in Kuwait and reporting to the Category Manager, the Category Development Analyst works closely with the sales team, supply chain team and vendors to ensure the profitability & optimization of the product assortment.

Responsibilities

1.     Assortment Planning and Communications
·       Analyze market research data on consumer behavior and competition analysis to identify any gaps in the existing assortment
·       Clearly present the product assortment plan showing new products on the family level showing the price groups and communicate it to Sales and Supply Chain teams for their feedback
·       Track daily the performance of each product on all stores and work with sales to understand customer requirements and with visual merchandizing to analyze placement options of products according to importance
·       Work with the Visual Communications team to build product catalogs inclusive of best sellers, new product launches and key item promotions
 
2.     Pricing, GM Planning, Analysis and Control
·       Planning and monitoring of product landed cost and working with the Supply Chain team and the vendors to optimize it
·       Constantly optimize the GM of the managed categories
·       Plan and implement markdowns on slow moving products and analyze the effect on sales and GM
 
3.     Souring and Vendor Management
·       Select and manage the vendor base to identify and develop strong vendor partners
 
Requirements
·       University Degree in Marketing or Business Management
·       Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Retail
 
 Skills
·       Strong strategic, analytical, communication, interpersonal, computer, negotiation and spreadsheet skills
·       Customer-focused, have a strong teamwork philosophy, time management and self-management skills
·       Must have the ability to multi-task and demonstrate a common sense approach to problem solving and analysis
·       Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
