We offer full time and part time positions and we welcome high school graduates or college student applicants with open morning schedules from 8 am to 3 pm Mondays to Fridays. This is a permanent position so only applicants who can commit to the agreed schedule permanently will be considered.

Job Summary:

Reports directly to the Optometrist and responsible for conducting pre-testing such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, pupil reflexes, visual field testing, pressure inside the eye and blood pressure; frame and lens selection, eyeglass adjustment. Also responsible for getting the residents ready to be seen by the doctor. Helps prepare and maintain patient records and examination room area. Handling some technical duties involving equipment and eyeglass preparation.



Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Processes patient’s information through the EHR system and helps prepare the examination room area ½ hour before the doctor’s arrival.

2. Find out the reason for the patient’s consultation.

3. Assist residents and prepare them to be seen by the doctor.

4. Fill out exam forms correctly such as eyeglass order forms, patient name, date seen, date due , medication list and diagnosis etc.

5. Coordinate with the Nurse Supervisor if a resident with a scheduled consultation was not seen for whatever reason.

6. Prepare follow up list of resident seen and properly mark down those who refused to be seen. 7. Respond to office questions in a timely manner.

8. Adhere to the Nursing Homes’ policies and procedures in filling up exam forms etc

9. Assist patients in fitting eyeglasses

10. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.



Job Specifications:

1. High School Graduate – certification is not required

2. Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar field an advantage

3. Effective team player. With very good interpersonal relationship skills and can work and relate well with co-employees, patients and customers.

4. Must have the behavioral sensitivity, maturity, diplomacy and tact in addressing complex situations and handling irate customers.

5. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

6. Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.

7. Basic familiarity on federal and state laws and requirements relating to healthcare management an advantage.

8. Computer literate and very highly proficient in using MS office programs.

9. Must be able to drive himself/herself to and from the facilities.

10. Must reside near the area of responsibility.
