Team objectives consist of providing education, training, and technical assistance for supervisors and direct care staff of adult care/assisted living facilities, family care homes, and skilled nursing homes, assisting LMEs with transitioning geriatric consumers from state psychiatric hospitals and private psychiatric hospitals to successful community placements, working with families who care for a loved one with mental illness in their home and providing education about the needs of adults with mental illness to community agencies such as local NAMI organizations, Senior Centers, Nutrition Sites supported by local Councils on Aging, Health Departments and other invested community groups.


1. Abide by all confidentiality and HIPAA standards and regulations.



2. Serve as liaison to local, regional and state mental health agencies, Long Term Care facilities, consumers and family members.



3. Be responsible for development and management of contracts between the LME and GAST staff as well as assisting GAST Team Leaders and their staff with audits and reviews.



4. Develop and monitor the annual budget for the GASTs administered by TA.



5. Explore and access informal/formal community supports/resources and share these with GAST staff.



6. Market TA services to consumers, family members, agencies and Long Term Care facility providers.



7. Prepare reports and other required paperwork as documentation of all GAST activities at a consistently high standard and in a timely manner, collaboration and communication of GAST and Therapeutic Alternatives policies and procedures..



8. Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory standards as well as CQI projects.



/9. / Monitor performance indicators (monthly event tickets, quarterly Division Reports and other CQI projects) for the GAST.

11. Cooperate with other staff members both within and outside the department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting others in accomplishing theirs.



12. Provide oversight of training modules and consultations. Coordinate needed approval of training modules and issues related to GAST training with the Division of Mental Health and the appropriate regulatory agencies. Provide information and consultation to other community agencies and other disciplines, including other services of the Agency. Assist in the overall functioning of the program.



13. Assist with special projects as needed.



14. Attend company training, core team and CQI meetings, in-services and seminars.



15. Assure cooperation/liaison to all local, regional, and state agencies concerned with licensure and monitoring or any other persons or institutions concerned with Long Term Care facilities and GAST program.



16. Document individual staff supervision to GAST team leaders, who will provide direct supervision to the staff on their team.



17. Provide guidance and oversight to GAST staff in order to assure proper record keeping of trainings and consultations provided.



18. Assure proper reporting of all accidents/incidents and train direct GAST Team Leaders to properly document accidents/incidents with assistance from QI Director.



19. Provide guidance and oversight of GAST staff including advertising vacancies when they exist and assisting GAST Team Leaders with the hiring process.



20. Schedule, conduct, and document GAST staff meetings.



21. Assure all personnel regulations are met for team leaders and assist team leaders with assuring all personnel regulations are met for their staff.

23. Monitor GAST staff to assure proper care of company vehicles and equipment through monthly vehicle inspection reports and coordination with GAST staff and authorized mechanics.



24. Review staff event tickets as well as petty cash/gas reimbursement and forward to finance department for billing.



25. Develop and manage GAST budget in coordination with the home office to insure appropriate use of funds and that staff have needed equipment/supplies.



26. Coordinate MIS issues for GAST staff from installation to trouble shooting with assistance from MIS department.



27. Monitor GAST staff reports of allegations of resident abuse, neglect, and exploitation and report to appropriate authorities.
