Corporate Counsel The candidate will be managing a broad range of contracting, compliance, legal and risk matters for the company and its affiliates in a time sensitive environment. Should have 5+ years of private practice or in-house counsel experience in the engineering and/or construction industry. Provide rapid, practical, business-oriented, and risk-aware legal advice to business clients. Draft, review, and negotiate various construction industry professional services contracts, other types of contracts, and documents with legal significance. Enhance standard contracting procedures and provide training on same. Prepare and present legal trainings and risk management seminars to staff on a wide range of legal, risk, and compliance topics. Manage operational compliance function (g., professional licensing). Collaborate with project personnel to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and advise on dispute avoidance and risk mitigation strategies. Coordinate efforts of and manage outside attorneys on a case-by-case basis. Support subpoena and claims/litigation management, working with General Counsel, outside counsel, insurance representatives, and internal stakeholders as needed. Support contracting, risk and compliance efforts for operations outside of the United States. Collaborate with and facilitate cross-team decision-making amongst various internal stakeholders, including Legal Department, Finance Department, senior management, and other internal teams. Some travel may be required (approx. 25%). Maintain active participation in professional societies to keep abreast of relevant legal and compliance issues. Perform other duties as needed.

The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Should be Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state or Washington, D.C. Undergraduate engineering or construction management degree preferred. Should have 5+ years of relevant contracts experience in a law firm in the engineering, architecture and/or construction field and/or corporate legal department within an engineering, architeture and/or construction company. Requires a comprehensive knowledge of engineering/construction industry business practices and negotiation of prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, alternative delivery method contracts (g., design-build, public private partnership), parent company guarantees, and related contracts. Experience with collaboration and/or work share arrangements, leases, and U.S. federal government contracting a plus. Prior experience with launching initiatives and change management strongly desired. Spanish or Mandarin (speaking and writing) preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
