Our client is growing and needs to add a Software Engineer to their staff who will be responsible for designing, coding and debugging custom software applications for functional test equipment used in manufacturing plants. They are located near Racine and offer career growth potential.  The position reports to the Director of Engineering
 
Requirements:
BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
3+ years of experience writing programs using VB.NET for industrial data acquisition and control applications
Good people skills, you will be working with various levels of customer personnel
Experience in working with manufacturing test and assembly systems.
Skilled in working with current versions of Microsoft products
Experience developing of HMI’s (Human Machine Interfaces) is desired, including generating operator prompts, displaying meaningful error messages in response to test stand faults, displaying system status, etc.
Technically proficient at writing data acquisition routines to obtain test data from sensors via the data acquisition hardware, process or analyze the data, display it and save the data to a local file or over a network to a database file.
Able to debug/troubleshoot test systems containing electrical, hydraulic and/or mechanical components.
Work on multiple projects at the same time while meeting deadlines.
Able to work through problems with Customer personnel over the phone by asking questions, reviewing schematics and looking at the test stand code.
 Duties:
Design, code and debug custom software applications for functional test equipment used in manufacturing plants
Start up the complete test system and debug the system hardware.  (Most applications involve the testing of Off-Highway cabs, e.g., construction equipment, forestry equipment, agricultural tractors, etc., but may also include hydraulic components, e.g., valves, pumps, cylinders, etc.)
Assume responsibilities as part of a project team, including taking part in the system installation, start-up and training at the customer’s facility.
Write system documentation.
Support field service personnel as requested on an on-going basis.
Travel to Customer’s site to install and analyze software updates on existing systems. (10% – 20% travel is required with durations of 3 – 4 days)
