Ahern Rentals is looking for an experienced Tax Accountant to assist management with respect to multiple areas of tax practice heavily focusing on sales tax, property tax and Value-Added Tax. This would require a hands-on role with all monthly, quarterly and annual returns, as well as maintaining a constant review of processes and procedures to maximize the efficiency of the department. High attention to detail is required when reviewing documents for accuracy. As a member of the Tax Team, you would provide tax research and guidance and ensure that the company is in compliance with all state and local tax laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within the deadlines set forth by the various taxing jurisdictions
Review and approve sales and use tax exemptions
Identify and mitigate tax risks
Coordinate with accounting staff to ensure compliance
Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices
Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

BA in Accounting
State and local tax experience, including extensive knowledge of Sales and Property Tax
Knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance, and tax strategy
Strong analytical skills and good time management
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Working Knowledge of VAT a plus
Exposure to Vertex, Infinium (AS400) and Rental Man (Wynne systems) a plus
MA in Taxation or CPA preferred
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must be able to pass drug test and background check
Must be able to provide Motor Vehicle Record at time of job offer (current within 15 days)
