Description

These Collectible Modernist Antique Sterling Silver Earrings are presented by Lisa LePaige who has hosted her own TV shopping shows on The Gem Shopping Network and Today's Shopping Network. If you are a collector of the Modernist period, you will recognize how rare this find is. These earrings are made with one long silver post throughout the handmade silver waves. They are unsigned but have tested sterling silver. I have been unable to find another pair like them. These earrings have a very abstract mode with undulating waves. They are elegant with a successful use of a difficult and seldom seen technique. They are a pure example of the Modernist Period wearable art. They are post back and measure 3" long and 3/4" at the widest top. Pair weighs 18.2 grams.
1930-1960 The Modernist Jewelry movement in America revived many of the tenets of The Arts & Crafts Movement of a few decades earlier. Modernist Jewelers place emphasis on hand-craftsmanship. The primary metal used was silver. Additionally, the Modernists' jewelry drew influence from contemporary artistic movements, such as Surrealism, Cubism, Futurism, Dada, Abstract Expressionism, etc. As with the Arts & Crafts Movement, there are Modernist makers whose identities are unknown.
A portion of all sales is donated to Orphans R Gems supporting Foster Parenting and adoption.
