The first known jewelry to have a heart-cut diamond on it is a gold ring which Mary, Queen of Scots presented to Elizabeth I of England in the 1560s. That perpetuated heart cut as the royal cut. The colors that look best in a heart cut are the warm tones that exist between grades G and H. The colorlessness that exists in diamonds between D and F do not have a significant impact in pronouncing the shape of heart shaped loose diamonds.
