And boy was Johnny right about that! Something as beautiful as this will always stir the heart of the photographer that appreciates great glass. This is the LAST 600mm I have in pristine, perfect, unused, MINT condition..come to think of it its the ONLY 600 I will have for sale. No others lurking in my cupboards(I checked twice!).

Ahh yes, the warning call heard from all parents around the world. In this case though its from me to you! Many an unsuspecting user of Carl Zeiss lenses has wandered over to a view camera and peered at the groundglass to recoil in horror at the searingly crisp edges and razor sharp fine details projected by this lens that it is with this in mind that I warn you NOT to leave the camera set up unattended where young children and naive view camera toters are about.
The eye is a very delicate instument as anyone who has accidentally stuck a finger in one will tell you, it delights in the plethora of minutia rendered so beautifully and accurately upon the frosted side of the groundglass. Faithful to what you see in real life this lens will reproduce the world as it is and what a wonderful thing that is, warts and all. Its for this very reason that I do NOT advise its use for portraits!! ;p) Stick to the tried and true fluffy and unrealistic results most often seen from Zeiss Jena glass.
With a magnificent reach and bountiful image circle this lens so brimming over with perfection of colour and sharpness of edge will generously cover a vast sheet of film that will be a boon to the larger large format user and the smaller one alike. Resolution of the smallest blade of grass, twig and even the most insignificant of pebbles are the very thing that compose every great and worthwhile image. Without these small building blocks something is lost that can never be redeemed no matter how good a printer you are.
This lens is one of the best variations of the Goerz Red Dot Artar, it is a modern computer optimized piece which uses a special potting compound to hold the lens elements in the exact same factory set place throughout a vast range of temperatures. This means that from the peak of Mount Whitney to the floor of Badwater your glass will stay in the same precisely laid position churning out one great neg after another.
The coverage of this lens is good for 16x20 with some movement, any smaller formats will be well covered. The longer a lens is it seems the more its design flaws are revealed but in this case there are no flaws, your negatives will be the sharpest you'll ever see, your prints will be the sharpest on the wall.
