On the festival weekend, the finalists travel to North Adams Music Festival and perform in front of a jury and a large live audience. The noDepression magazine and FreshGrass Awards celebrate emerging artists who offer original takes on bluegrass and roots, with five categories — band, banjoist, fiddler, mandolinist, singer-songwriter, and winners are selected on the basis of instrumental and vocal skills — and prizes totaling $25,000+ cash.
