Ahern Rentals is looking for a CDL Field Service Mechanic to respond to service calls at our customer’s jobsites. Upon arrival, the field mechanic diagnoses and repairs our rental equipment in the quickest and safest manner possible to allow our customer’s to return to work. This position works alone and away from the shop most of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more; the operator may tow a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR
Travel to customer worksites to complete repairs on various types of rental equipment
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain heavy duty and other construction machinery including electric and fuel system engines
Respond to service calls at customer’s worksites
Verify order paperwork for completeness and accuracy
Perform pre and post-trip vehicle inspections
Provide customers basic training, as needed
Other duties, as assigned by Management

Qualifications:

Previous equipment repair experience required
Minimum of 3 years experience driving a commercial vehicle
Required: Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N-endorsement)
Previous flatbed experience preferred
Valid State issued Driver's License
Meet all local, state and federal requirements for CDL holder
Local delivery experience preferred
Must be able to work on several types and brands of equipment
Must be able to read and understand electrical & hydraulic schematics
Truck and diesel engine experience is a plus
Basic computer skills preferred
Must have current medical card
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must be able to pass drug test and background check
Must be able to provide Motor Vehicle Record at time of job offer (current within 15 days)
