Since 1977, Step By Step, Inc. has provided community support services to children and adults in pennsylvania with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and autism. We are a non-profit agency committed to enhancing the quality of life and personal growth of those we serve.

Step By Step provides services to more than 2,000 individuals, in the Northeast, Southeast, Lehigh Valley and Western regions of Pennsylvania. The Agency is a Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) qualified provider of more than 25 distinct services, which are offered to 17 counties in the Commonwealth.

All of our services are either licensed by DPW or are fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation facilities.

Whether providing day programs for adults and seniors or finding jobs and housing for clients, our singular focus is improving the lives of people with disabilities.

Job Description:

CASES AVAILABLE IN: washington City (daylight/weekend ~ 10 hours/week).
Bethel Park (after 1 pm ~ 6 hours/week).
Charleroi (daylight ~ 10 hours/week).
Donora (Tues/Thurs ~ 10 hours/week).
Donora (Tues/Thurs ~ daylight/afternoon).

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be: 18 years of age; possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.equivalent, a valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clean driving record for the past three years, as required by Step By Step, Inc.'s insurance carrier and have their own vehicle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Listed below are the essential functions of the MDSS. This list is not all inclusive, and you will be required to perform other tasks as determined necessary by supervisory personnel:
Helps program participant's with developmental disability evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
Identifies skill areas that may need to be developed.
Assists program participants in setting goals for developing community living skills.
Helps program participants maintain housing through skill building in daily living skills.
Trains program participants in community living skills (i.e. medication use, diet, exercise, grooming, housekeeping, shopping, budgeting, health appointments, anti-victimization, etc.).
Assists program participants in developing social skills, interests and leisure time activities.
Evaluates program participant's progress.
Completes timely documentation requirements for the HCH Department.
Must be available to provide services to program participants where and when these services are needed. This includes requests of both an emergency and non-emergency nature and will necessitate evening and weekend availability on the part of the staff. This will be accomplished through flexible working schedules and through participation in an On-Call System.
Establishes and maintains a clear communication with inter-agency and intra-agency staff regarding caseloads.
Attends and participates in inter-agency and intra-agency case staffings, information meetings and staff meetings.
Attends and participates in scheduled staff development activities and Agency/program committees.
Communicates with tenants about their roles and responsibilities concerning apartment maintenance.
Reports any and all unusual incidents/incidents within 24 hours in an accurate, objective manner as described by policy and procedure.
Advocates and creates a situation conducive to the resident's development of skills necessary to maximize independence.
