Job description:
Manufacturer is seeking a Senior Development Formulator. The Senior Development Formulator will report to the VP of Operations and Technical Services.

Develop and enhance material solutions for new business growth along with cost improvement initiatives for molding and pultrusion compounds. Create, optimize and validate compounds that meet or exceed customer requirements. Effectively manage and champion all technical aspects of the product development process from pre-formulation to commercialization, utilizing standard best practices and procedures with hands on formulations, scale up and manufacturing support.

* Represent the Company on key projects through the product development process
* Perform tests for formulation evaluation
* Responsible for coordination and execution of benchtop, pilot, manufacturing scale-up and verification batches
* Effectively interfaces with Sales and other cross-functional disciplines to accomplish project goals
* Responsible for ensuring formulations procedures are up-to-date
* Design and execute special projects
* Prepare specifications, documentation and reports related to project development
* Independently provides effective and functional technical support across all departments on new and existing products as required
* Write and prepare standard operating procedures for product development work
* Plan and perform laboratory experiments, compile and analyze data and communicate results
* Design experimental studies and conduct statistical evaluation results
* Ability to work in a manufacturing and general office environment
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment
* Perform other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities.
* Ability to perform project work, self-directed tasks, and achieve goals and objectives
* Results oriented and self-motivating
* Excellent networking and communication skills both verbal and written
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Ability to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

* Requires a four year college degree or university degree or its equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or related field
* 5-7 years of experience in thermoset product development
* Compression molding and pultrusion processes experience preferred; Erie, Pennsylvania, United States; User's other ads
